چکیده

In the nuclear industry, mixed oxide fuel pellets are manufactured by powder metallurgy process. This work aims at improving physical and flow properties of powders in order to obtain a reproducible die filling produce homogeneous dense after sintering. The studied was grinded mixture UO2 sintered scraps (recycled). Two conditioning methods were tested compared: V-blender an oscillating rotating OscilloWitt-Lab sieve mill associated Turbula mixer. first method consisted three main steps realized V-blender: deagglomeration step with intensifier bar, stirring lubrication step. second also steps: sieving OscilloWitt-Lab, followed Different bar speeds on different mesh sizes studied. Particle size, morphology, mechanical characterized each only slightly improved flowability compared initial powder. speed had negligible impact characteristics mixer allowed marked improvement size significant characteristics. Indeed, using 250 μm resulted most favorable properties. Therefore, it seems be promising as well pellets.

Numerical Methods for Predicting Roll Press Powder Compaction Parameters

Large numbers of cohesive powders are compacted using a roll press. The principle of compaction is that particulate materials become a compact when they are subjected to high pressure. Experimental work was carried out on pharmaceutical powders [1] to determine the influence of operating parameters on the roll process compaction. Theses parameters are determined for a given powder and must be m...

Powder Methods

In one form of powder methods, the powder is compressed in a die and subsequently sintered. The final dimensions are determined by the powder, die, compaction pressure, and sintering densification cycle. The higher the compaction pressure, the higher the final density and properties. Minimal densification occurs in sintering if the powders are large and the sintering temperature is low. This is...

Benefits of Die Wall Lubrication for Powder Compaction

The achievement of high density at reasonable cost would be a definite advantage for the production of P/M components requiring high static and dynamic properties. The use of the electrostatic die wall lubrication technique appears as a very attractive route to promote densification. By reducing the level of friction at die walls, this technique should have the potential to also reduce density ...
